We’re happy to have you with us. To ensure a safe, clean and enjoyable stay for everyone, please review and follow helpful tips and guidelines bellow.
- Parking:
- Parking is available next to (on the right side only for cabin 4) or behind your cabin on the hard pavement. Please keep off the grass—parking on grass is not allowed.
- Slippery Wooden Pathway:
Please be cautious, as the wooden pathways at the campsite and to your cabin door can get slippery during rainy and winter seasons. Watch your step!
- Electric or Hybrid Cars:
Please note, charging of any type of car is not allowed at the cabin. Kindly inform reception if you need to charge your vehicle. A car charging station is available between Cabin 0 and the Reception building in the parking lot. If you wish to charge your car, please inform reception first to ensure availability and correct usage.
- Induction stove manual inside the cabin:

To help keep the cabin fresh for yourself and the next guest, we encourage you to cook your deliciously fragrant dishes in the main kitchen, where you’ll also have running water and extra space to prepare your meals.
- Cabin care:
The cabin should be kept clean during and after your stay, and left in the same clean condition as it was found. Cleaning supplies are located below the kitchenette table. If you need additional cleaning supplies, we are happy to provide it.
However, if you prefer not to clean the cabin yourself, you can order cleaning service for an additional charge. Please note, if the cabin is found untidy, a cleaning fee may be charged.

- About Water in the Cabin
This cabin doesn’t have running water, so please plan accordingly. A glass bottle is provided for your use, and you’re welcome to refill it in the main kitchen. If you need help or prefer a larger container, just let us know — we’re happy to assist.
- The Main Kitchen – Induction Stove
Induction Stove: Induction stove heats up very quickly. Start with a lower temperature (around 4) and gradually increase it as needed. Avoid setting it to the highest (8-9) to prevent burning your food and triggering the smoke detectors. If a smoke detector is activated, please do not attempt to remove it from the ceiling. Instead, open doors and windows to ventilate the area.
Compatible Cookware: Use only pots and pans suitable for induction cooking. Non-compatible cookware will cause the stove to shut down for safety reasons.
In Case of Malfunction: If the stove stops working, it may have activated its safety shutdown. Please reset it by pressing the reset button located above the stove, under the suction hood.
If you notice anything that is broken, missing, or not working properly, please inform our staff or visit the reception immediately. All kitchen equipment and utensils are provided for the convenience of our guests. Before leaving, please ensure all appliances including the stove, hood, heat thermostat, and lights are turned off. Please take the trash out and accordingly place it in designated bins at main recycling area. Wash, dry, and return dishes to their original places. Please clean up after yourself and use only what you need, so others can also enjoy a tidy and well-stocked kitchen.
Please ensure the outside door is securely closed before you leave, especially during windy or rainy conditions. This helps prevent drafts, water intrusion, and potential damage to the door or its surroundings.
- In Case of Fire:
Stay Calm and Act Quickly. Use the fire extinguisher located inside the kitchen, in the corner next to first table by the door. Immediately inform reception. If reception is closed, call the fire department at 110.
If it is safe to do so, turn off the induction stove and evacuate the area.
- Water Conservation:
As our water supply is limited, we kindly ask all guests to use only the amount of water they need. During the highest season in the summer, our well goes dry. When this happens, water needs to be boiled before drinking (rule is set by “The Norwegian Food and Safety Authority”). Water supply switches to reserve water from the lake. This water will have a brownish color, which is natural for lake water. Heavy traffic during the season is the cause, so please use water wisely and don’t forget to turn it off when not using. Please note that the water on the campground is used for all purposes, including drinking, showering, washing clothes, and other activities.
- Recycling & Composting
We encourage everyone to recycle and compost by helping us maintain an eco-friendly campground – but above all, true sustainability begins with using thoughtfully and reusing whenever possible, creating less waste for a greener future.
Main Recycling Area: Located to the right of the shared bathroom door, between cabin 1 and the shed (attached to the main building).
Recycling in the Main Kitchen: Please place recyclable items in the appropriate bins located under the sink in the kitchen.
- Shared Bathrooms
We want everyone to enjoy a clean and comfortable bathroom experience. Please follow these guidelines:
Showers: We have 2 showers and 2 toilets for men, and 2 showers and 2 toilets for women. After your shower, please use the shower squeegee to remove excess water and collect any leftover hair to dispose of properly. Leave the shower door open.
Sinks: After use, please wipe away excessive water from around the sink to leave it clean for the next guest.
Toilets: If necessary, use the toilet brush to clean the toilet after use. Please leave it as you would want to find it.
Laundry Facilities Information:
Women’s bathroom: Washing machine and dryer
Men’s bathroom: Washing machine only
The cost is 50 NOK per wash and 50 NOK per drying cycle. Please visit reception before using the machines. Instructions for use are located on top of the washing machine—please read them carefully before starting.
Important Guidelines:
Drying Machine: Do not overload, as it will take longer to dry. If you have a large load, please divide it in half for better results.
Water Conservation: Due to our limited water supply, please use the washing machine only if truly necessary. During the peak season, when our primary water source is still available, we kindly ask guests to limit usage to one wash per household. If we have switched to our reserve water, you may use the machines as needed.
If you come across anything broken, missing, or not functioning properly, kindly let our staff know or visit the reception. Toiletries, hair dryers, and other amenities are provided for the convenience of all Base Camp Hamarøy guests. Please use them responsibly, keeping in mind that others will need them too. Take only what you truly need.
Please ensure the outside door is securely closed before you leave, especially during windy or rainy conditions. This helps prevent drafts, water intrusion, and potential damage to the door or its surroundings.
- Birds Nesting in Summer:
During the summer, many birds nest, hatch, and raise their young here. Please be mindful and avoid disturbing their surroundings. Keep dogs on a leash and away from these areas, and walk carefully to ensure the birds remain undisturbed.
If you see birds flying close to you or overhead while making noise, it’s a sign that a nest or chicks are nearby. This is their way of alerting you to stay aware and keep a safe distance.
- We reserve the right to ask guests to leave the property if their actions are not in keeping with the spirit and standards we uphold — not to be strict, but to ensure fairness and respect for our place and all who share it.
- If there is a valid reason, we have the right to enter the cabin — for example, for safety, technical maintenance, or in case of an emergency. This is done with care and respect for the guests’ privacy.
Thank you for reading, following, and for helping us keep this a welcoming and respectful space for everyone!
