We are excited to have you with us! To ensure a safe, clean and enjoyable stay for everyone, please review and follow helpful tips and guidelines bellow.
- Parking for Caravan, Campingvan, and Motorhome
To ensure the grass remains in good condition, please park only on the gravel areas. Please, do not park any cars or heavy objects on the grass.
For proper parking, ensure that the grass is on your right side when parking. It is very important not to drive over the grass, as this can damage the lawn.
- Electricity Connection for Caravan Pitches
For guests with motorhome, caravan, campervan, or car using the pitch with electricity connection:
Electrical Hook-up: Each pitch is equipped with a CEE 16A blue outlet for outdoor use.
To connect: First, plug your cable securely into the outlet.
Only after the cable is properly connected, turn the switch on to ensure a safe connection.
Cable Use: Use only flexible cables with a minimum cross-section of 2.5mm² and a maximum length of 25 meters. The cable must be completely unwound from the drum to avoid overheating.
Charging electric cars is prohibited. A car charging station is available between Cabin 0 and the Reception building in the parking lot. If you wish to charge your car, please inform reception first to ensure availability and correct usage.
Responsibility for the correct use of electrical equipment rests with the guest.
Water Conservation: As our water supply is limited, we kindly ask all guests to use only the amount of water they need. During the highest season in the summer, our well goes dry. When this happens, water needs to be boiled before drinking (rule is set by “The Norwegian Food and Safety Authority”). Water supply switches to reserve water from the lake. This water will have a brownish color, which is natural for lake water. Heavy traffic during the season is the cause, so please use water wisely and don’t forget to turn it off when not using. Please note that the water on the campground is used for all purposes, including drinking, showering, washing clothes, and other activities.
Keep it clean: Please help us keep the outdoor areas clean and enjoyable for everyone. Dispose of all waste, including cigarette butts, in the general waste bins provided. Let’s keep the pitches and pathways tidy and welcoming for all guests.
- Kitchen Use – Induction Stove
Induction Stoves: Induction stoves heat up very quickly. Start with a lower temperature (around 4) and gradually increase it as needed. Avoid setting it to the highest (8-9) to prevent burning your food and triggering the smoke detectors. If a smoke detector is activated, please do not attempt to remove it from the ceiling. Instead, open doors and windows to ventilate the area.
Compatible Cookware: Use only pots and pans suitable for induction cooking. Non-compatible cookware will cause the stove to shut down for safety reasons.
In Case of Malfunction: If the stove stops working, it may have activated its safety shutdown. Please reset it by pressing the reset button located above the stove, under the suction hood.
In case of fire: Stay calm and act quickly.
Use the fire extinguisher located inside the kitchen, in the corner to the right of the door.
Inform the reception immediately. If the reception is closed, call the fire department at 110.
If it is safe to do so, turn off the induction stove and evacuate the area.
If you notice anything in the kitchen that is broken, missing, or not working properly, please inform our staff or visit the reception. The kitchen is a shared space, and all equipment and utensils are provided for the convenience of our guests. Before leaving, please ensure all appliances including the stove, hood, and lights are turned off. Wash, dry, and return dishes to their original places. Please clean up after yourself and use only what you need, so others can also enjoy a tidy and well-stocked kitchen.
Please make sure to closed the door before you leave, especially during windy and rainy conditions.
- Recycling
We encourage everyone to recycle and help us maintain an eco-friendly campground!
Main Recycling Area: Located right to the bathroom door, between cabin 1 and the shed (attached to the main building).
Kitchen Recycling: Please place recyclable items in the appropriate bins located under the sink in the kitchen.
For larger items that cannot fit in the kitchen bins, or to help ease the load on our staff, please take them to the main recycling area.
- Shared Bathrooms
We want everyone to enjoy a clean and comfortable bathroom experience. Please follow these guidelines:
Showers: We have 2 showers and 2 toilets for men, and 2 showers and 2 toilets for women. After your shower, please use the shower squeegee to remove excess water and collect any leftover hair to dispose of properly. Leave the shower door open.
Sinks: After use, please wipe away excessive water from around the sink to leave it clean for the next guest.
Toilets: If necessary, use the toilet brush to clean the toilet after use. Please leave it as you would want to find it.
Laundry Facilities Information:
Women’s bathroom: Washing machine and dryer
Men’s bathroom: Washing machine only
The cost is 50 NOK per wash and 50 NOK per drying cycle. Please visit reception before using the machines. Instructions for use are located on top of the washing machine—please read them carefully before starting.
Important Guidelines:
Drying Machine: Do not overload, as it will take longer to dry. If you have a large load, please divide it in half for better results.
Water Conservation: Due to our limited water supply, please use the washing machine only if truly necessary. During the peak season, when our primary water source is still available, we kindly ask guests to limit usage to one wash per household. If we have switched to our reserve water, you may use the machines as needed.
If you come across anything broken, missing, or not functioning properly, kindly let our staff know or visit the reception. Toiletries, hair dryers, and other amenities are provided for the convenience of all Base Camp Hamarøy guests. Please use them responsibly, keeping in mind that others will need them too. Take only what you truly need.
Please ensure the outside door is securely closed before you leave, especially during windy or rainy conditions. This helps prevent drafts, water intrusion, and potential damage to the door or its surroundings.
- Birds Nesting in Summer
During the summer, we have birds nesting, hatching, and raising their babies. Please be careful not to disturb their surroundings. Keep dogs on a leash and away from these areas, and walk with caution to avoid disturbing the birds.
If you notice birds flying close by or over your head while making sounds, this indicates their nest or chicks are nearby. This is their way of alerting you to stay aware and keep your distance.
We appreciate you taking the time to go through these tips and guidances. If you need anything, feel free to ask. Enjoy your stay!
With warm welcome,
Base Camp Hamarøy Team
